Walk through the hallways with high ceilings and polished concrete floors that seem to go on forever. Be amazed by the Kusama Halls, where mirrors and infinity dots create an illusion of physical eternity. Contemplate large-format works by artists such as Kehinde Wiley and Jeff Koons, displayed with a breadth that only this space can offer. Explore the New Voices Gallery, where the museum presents its most recent acquisitions, often discoveries that will shape the art market for years to come. Rest in the interior garden, an oasis of silence surrounded by tropical vegetation and minimalist sculptures. It is an immersion in the “Global Narrative”, a journey through the concerns and hopes of the art of our time in an environment of absolute industrial peace.
Level: Secure (Gated/Staffed). The museum has a rigorous private security system and room staff in each of the 53 galleries. The Allapattah neighborhood is in full transformation; Although the museum is very safe, it is recommended to arrive by private vehicle or transport platform and avoid walking long distances through the industrial surroundings in the evening. Inside the complex, the atmosphere is one of absolute calm and respect for silence.
Grade: Gold. As a single-story complex at street level, the Rubell Museum is exceptionally accessible for people with reduced mobility. There are no stairs or slopes between the galleries. The hallways are unusually wide, making it easy for any wheelchair to turn. The museum offers complimentary wheelchairs at the entrance. The bathrooms are adapted and there are rest areas with ergonomic benches strategically distributed throughout the route.
Yayoi Kusama’s Hall of Mirrors. If you have the opportunity to reserve a ticket for the Infinity Rooms, do so. Being alone inside these mirror boxes is the closest experience to floating in the void that the museum offers. Otherwise, the central corridor that connects galleries 1 to 15 offers an unparalleled architectural perspective of the scale of the museum, where natural light enters through industrial skylights creating a rhythm of shadows and lights perfect for author photography.
