It doesn’t appear in cheap tour guides. They don’t advertise it on the airport billboards. It is Camden’s most beloved secret, passed on quietly from inhabitant to inhabitant. Primrose Hill is not just a view. It’s the place where London becomes yours.

Sunrise Protocol: Leave the Chalk Farm subway station (Northern Line, dark gray) between 5:45 and 6:00 AM. Walk 10 minutes south along Fitzroy Road until you enter the park through the north gate. Go directly up the main slope without detouring. It will take you exactly 7 minutes.
When you reach the top, turn 180 degrees south. You will have the complete panorama of the London skyline without any architectural elements interrupting the view. There are no fences, there are no railings, there is no ticket office. Just grass, wind and an entire city at your feet.
Sunset Protocol: The exact time varies by season: use the “Golden Hour” app to calculate the exact time of sunset on your date. Arrive 30 minutes early to choose your position. On Fridays and Saturdays at sunset in summer, the atmosphere changes and groups of friends appear with blankets and wine. It is equally magical but more social.
Green Zone with Note: The park is completely safe during the day and at dusk. For the Dawn Protocol (before 6:00 AM), it is recommended to be accompanied or wait for natural light. The Chalk Farm area is quiet but any dark park at 5:30 AM requires common sense.
Inclusion Grade: Silver. The central path up has a gentle and firm slope, accessible for motorized wheelchairs. However, the last section (30 meters) has unpaved grass, which can make access difficult. The view of 80% of the skyline is equally spectacular from the middle level of the park, which is completely accessible.
The triangulation point (the white triangulation pole at the top) is not your goal. Stand 3 meters southof that pole, facing London. From there, the skyline is perfectly centered and at that distance you can use the telephoto lens on your smartphone or camera (3x) to compress the perspective and make the Shard and the BT Tower appear side by side. At dawn, the sky will be behind them. By sunset, the sun will fall exactly above Regent’s Park to your right, bathing everything in gold.
