We recommend walking along the shore, watching the process of the locks opening to let ships through, an engineering ritual that hasn’t changed in two centuries. Cross the iconic curved iron walkways, made famous by the film Amélie. The atmosphere is purely social: you’ll see hundreds of people sharing wine and conversation at sunset. Stop in front of the historic Hôtel du Nord and get lost in the adjacent streets lined with independent design boutiques and art bookstores.
