Start your walk on Francisco Sosa Street, the historical axis that connects the past with the present. Detour down the **Callejón de la Higuera** towards the Plaza de la Conchita. Here, the air feels different: it smells of jasmine, copal, and pot coffee. Observe the volcanic stone facades and the hidden gardens that peek out over the walls. We suggest visiting the area at dusk, when the shadows lengthen over the cobblestones and the warm light from the lanterns transforms the alleys into a magical realism scene where Frida, Diego and Trotsky seem to continue walking.
Level: Safe (Residential). Coyoacán is an area with high surveillance and very friendly for tourists. It is recommended to walk through the illuminated streets and be alert in the narrower alleys after 9 PM. The area has constant tourist police.
Grade: Silver. The center of Coyoacán is mostly pedestrian, but many streets retain the original cobblestones (river stone), which can be a challenge for manual wheelchairs. It is recommended to use Francisco Sosa as the main axis because it has better sidewalks.
The Mirror of La Conchita. Be in the center of the Plaza de la Conchita at 6:15 PM. Golden light bounces off the church’s baroque façade and casts long shadows on the magnolia trees. It is the exact point where the mystique of Coyoacán becomes tangible and the noise of the city disappears completely.
