Your route begins in the Piazza della Rotonda, observing the scale of the Egyptian granite columns of the pronaos. Once inside (with your time reservation), we will move away from the royal tombs to stand in the central axis below the oculus. We will observe how the disk of light moves across the marble floor and walls, illuminating the coffered ceilings of the dome.
We will end the visit in the adjacent church, San Luigi dei Francesi, to contemplate Caravaggio‘s frescoes in total silence, closing a circle of light and baroque art that only the center of Rome can offer without additional entrance fee to the temple.

Position yourself exactly in the central quadrant of the marble floor between 11:45 AM and 12:15 PM. Your goal is to capture the ray of light at its moment of greatest contrast against the gloom inside. Look for a low angle that includes the oculus and the projection of light on the floor. It is the most perfect temporal portal of classical architecture.
