The world is full of museums that overwhelm you with miles of hallways of minor works. The Borghese Gallery is the opposite: it is concentrated perfection. Its founder obsessively collected the best, to the point of commissioning Bernini his most famous statues just to decorate his own home.
The soul of this experience lies in the intensity. You will see the flesh turn into marble in the “Rapture of Proserpina” and you will witness the mastery in dark lights of six of the best paintings by Caravaggio in a single room. The clock is ticking; you have 120 minutes to absorb the unattainable.

Upon entering, the ideal route begins inverted to avoid the herd. We will start on the Ground Floor (Sculptures) to face the kinetic genius of “David” and “Apollo and Daphne” by Bernini without people in front of us.
We will cross the dark room dedicated exclusively to the violent stroke of Caravaggio, ending in the main hall with the unmatched static beauty of Antonio Canova’s “Paolina Bonaparte”. Later, we will go up to the Pila Alta art gallery, all encapsulated in a majestic public park outside.
Level: Green (Very Controlled). Guards in each room limit problems, but the villa policy is strict: bags and umbrellas must go to the cloakroom. Go 30 minutes early to get through security and not waste time on your stipulated 2 hours.
Inclusion Grade: High. Perfectly adapted with hidden elevators (ask the guards for access) and light ramps on the outside for fluid movement between the works.
Pluto’s finger on Proserpina. Do not photograph the overall sculpture. Go around it to the right and make a macro directly to the detail where the giant hand of the marble god sinks into the soft skin (also marble) of Proserpina’s thigh. It is the most impressive sculptural detail on a tactile level in the history of humanity.
